Hello I'm Dorothy Thom. In the last decade
I've helped over 50 organisations and 2000 people to improve their customer service delivery and profitability.

I combine a unique blend of practical business experience with marketing and strategic skills, coaching and mentoring together with facilitation and arbitration work in the public, private and voluntary/social enterprise sectors.

I have devised most of The Customer Factor training programmes myself, evolving them from a combination of personal experience and detailed analysis of the top customer care programmes in the US and Europe.

I have a proven track record, over 25 years, of helping people and businesses succeed through building better relationships with their customers and staff.

My skills include providing strategic and personal coaching as well as marketing, facilitation and arbitration service to entrepreneurs, businesses of all sizes, charities and university students in South Africa, Europe and the UK.

I am a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management, am SFEDI accredited and have won many awards for business achievement in South Africa.

I also hold several positions on business task forces and enterprise steering groups in East Kent where I have operated as Director of the East Kent Enterprise Gateway since 2006.


My personal achievements

I’m a massive sports fan and like nothing better than a challenge. So, in my spare time I have:

  • Completed 6 Comrades Marathons (90 km’s each)
  • Canoed the South African Transkei Coast to raise funds for the Bottlenose Dolphin
  • Paddled the Dusi Canoe Marathon (120 km’s)
  • Completed the Adventure Race in Eshowe, South Africa (180 km’s).

Balance and relaxation are important too, so I’m a fan of chilling out and taking time to reflect. Travel, family times and enjoying a meal cooked by my husband and washed down with a good Shiraz wine are some of my favourite pastimes.
